A downloadable fan translation

This is an English fan translation of the VN "Fake World's End at 4 AM" by Charon. It's a psychological horror VN, though it dips much further into metafiction than other Charon VNs. This VN is also the definitive conclusion for Charon's pre-2018 multiverse, and was intentionally drawn to look the part.

A Steam link to the VN is here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2728750/Gozenyojinomanimani/

Its DLSite counterpart is here: https://www.dlsite.com/home/work/=/product_id/RJ01126272.html

Some notes:

  • The VN takes around 2-3 hours to complete.
  • There are a very significant number of references to Charon's previous works. You can assume that any character Charon made before 2018 is going to make make an appearance in this VN. The full list of works to take note of is below.
  • Compared to other Charon VNs, this one has a lot less gore in exchange for more metafiction.
  • I translated the disclaimer video, though the other videos are untouched.
  • Also, beware of the VN's depiction of suicide. Its depiction could be triggering.

The list of Charon works referenced:

  • Directly referenced:
    • Mikoto Nikki
    • Mix Ore
    • Makoto Mobius
    • Yanderella
    • Kimi to Boku to Kireigoto
    • Shihori Escape
    • Tsukimi Planet
    • Full Bokko Youchien
    • Menherafflesia, or its remake, Menherafflesia: Flowering Abyss
    • The Dark Side of Red Riding Hood
  • Optional
    • Dice Psycho/Dice Psycho: Seventh Heaven - Interquel of Menherafflesia and Fake World's End, though Dice Psycho isn't referenced in Fake World's End.
    • Traumermaid - Alternate universe of Yanderella
    • Paranoia - Misato's backstory, though this isn't translated into English.

Thank you so much for another Charon's translation. Are you going to translate more of her games? I really like them.

Also, can I suggest you a game? I really want to read it into English

https://vndb.org/v41754

Ah, that one. I've considered translating some of OverFlowers' work, though I haven't decided yet.

I'm thinking of translating Shiniisogu Bokura, though I'm not entirely sure yet about finishing it. I considered translating Yona Yona, but there's a very notable amount of BDSM eroge in there. I might return to it later - not sure.

What currently holds my focus right now is a particular VN set in a mental institution. The creator seems to be interested in putting the VN on Steam, but it doesn't seem to be released there yet. Despite that, there are copies available on NovelGame and Freem, so getting a copy is no problem.

Actually is a really short game, so maybe... I think is the only one game from Overflowers with Nekofuji (Charon) as staff.

Shiniisogu bokura is one of her last games, isn't it? I've already knew Yona Yona. Maybe is not one of her best games and I don't like BDSM too, but I think that game has another perspective, not being usual from Charon, so it's very interesting. I really want to read it too, haha.

But idk, talking about Charon, you also have Yanderain and Paranoia. What do you think about them?

It looks very interesting, I'll be waiting for your translation! Can I know which game is?

I might do that recommended OverFlowers one while I'm doing the mental hospital one. The translation passes for the hospital one will probably take a bit, so I might switch over to the OverFlowers one in between.

  • Yes, Shiniisogu bokura came out in August 2023. The leads seem interesting - there's a good chance I'll translate it, though there are some other VNs of interest I want to finish up first.
  • Yona Yona seems to have something interesting involving a crane going on, though the setup at the start feels like straight up BDSM nukige. I might return to this one later, though I'm not really sure.
  • I bought Yanderain, though I haven't begun trying to translate it yet.
  • Paranoia is annoying to get. I might do it later once I buy a copy; don't know.

I can't reveal precisely what the VN I'm working on is at the moment, though from what the Japanese Let's Players say, it seems to be ~3h long. It also seems that a Japanese VTuber - Chiruhi - did a Let's Play on this particular one. The denpa elements in it look interesting, and the skull Joker-like character in it is pretty funny, so I feel there's a good chance I'll finish translating it.

Thank you so much! I don't know Japanese, but if you need help I know some vn's engines and I can edit images.

I would be waiting for your translations, especially Charon's ones. Enjoy your translations and take your time!

Also I'll be waiting for that denpa novel, you hyped me!

Are you considering translating the Tasogare Traumerei remake if you choose to do more of Overflowers works? Charon made merch for it, so I'm a little interested in reading that.

It's possible, though I've got a backlog of other VNs to handle first.

That's fair, good luck with those. Looking forward to checking them out ^-^ Also,  sorry for asking so many questions but why is Paranoia annoying to get? Mildly curious since I don't remember it being all that complicated to buy.

Unlike Charon's other works, you have to buy Paranoia directly from Charon's Fantia. I haven't gotten around to making my account there yet - I'll probably need to make a separate guide in the install instructions for how to legitimately buy a copy, since there's a good chance people might get confused.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
