A downloadable fan translation

This is a fan translation of the second episode of the series Lost Dragons - the original VN was created by Samezaki. This installment is all about cooking, and food. I'd go so far as to say it's like a fantasy episode of Hell's Kitchen. I estimate that this VN will take 1 hour to complete everything. If you include the first episode, that's around an hour and a half to 2 hours in total.

Compared to the previous episode, there's a lot more world building in this one - by the end, you'll probably have a good sense of who the major players are, as well as how this world came to be. I'd also say that this episode is the most light-hearted of the six.

Some other things about this particular translation:

  • It's manual, though I did get some light help from bunpro to figure out some of the tougher intricacies of Japanese grammar. There's one line Orochi says near the end that's really tough to translate properly - that's for sure.
  • I've kept the honorifics, except Orochi-sama is localized to "Lord Orochi". People who believe in Orochi also use capitalized pronouns for him.
  • Unlike the previous episode, this episode features some choices that can block progression. The choices you need to do to get to the good ending seem to be made clear enough from the hint you get in one of the bad endings, but there are a series of choices in the middle that can stump you. The VN doesn't give a hint for that, so I'll give my own: Doesn't matter/Middle/Bottom/Top. You'll know what that means when you get there.
  • I've decided to use some special characters again: Ô for Ôedo, and û for jûjin. There are also a few words I've transliterated as-is, since English doesn't really have a good counterpart for them. I've put in their definitions where appropriate, except for "kohai" - that's the honorific for "junior", the opposite of "senpai", for "senior".
  • There's one line that absolutely has to be in Japanese, for plot reasons. However, I've put in its translation in parenthesis so you know what the speaker is saying.
