Full Release

Well, this translation was quite an adventure. The game acts weird if it sees whitespace in certain areas, so if you encounter freezing, tell me where it happened and I'll go fix it.

Keep in mind that the first screen (where you enter a name) doesn't hook into the translation properly, but the rest of the game does. The name doesn't get used again anyway, so put in whatever you want.

Here's a quick walkthrough for progressing through the game:

• The game immediately starts with someone giving you a short questionnaire on which side you want to start with. Black is emotional, whereas White is rational. When you choose a side, you're locked in until you reach the chapter that triggers the first ending for that side. Some info on how each Side reads:
  • Black has a sizable amount of backstory, and most of it happens a couple months to many years before the main story takes place. The starting chapter for each Black side character is a short story talking about how they lived before joining the rebels, with the rest mostly involving planning for the operation you see on White side. You might want to start off with this one if you want to begin with a XCOM-esque storyline first.
  • White goes through character backstories very quickly, instead going over how society works in the game. White side is also where a lot of the action is - the operation seen in Black side is the prime focus here. You might want to start off with this one if you'd prefer a military thriller.
• When you get past the first ending, the remainder of the Shallow Memories open up. This section concludes the main story of the game, and sets up some sequel hooks for the sequel in the second ending.
• When the second ending is done, you unlock the remainder of the combat stages, and the Deep Memories. Dream Memories can be done in any order, except for Hear's and Wright's Dream Memories. I propose doing theirs in this order: 
  • Wright Dream Deep Memory (If you want some 21st century background) -> Wright Free Deep Memories -> Hear Dream Deep Memory -> Hear Free Deep Memory 1 -> Wright Dream Deep Memory (if you want chronological order) -> Hear Free Deep Memories 2-7.
• When the Deep Memories are all read, the game plays the third ending, which is the final one.

The game claims that there will eventually be a sequel, but I hear that got temporarily shelved due to poor sales. However, it got shelved before they released their big hit - The Hungry Lamb - so Black and White might make a comeback. The devs also mentioned that they may add Sui to this game in 2025, so I'll probably resume this translation if that happens.
