A downloadable fan translation

Fan translation for Charon's game Menherafflesia: Flowering Abyss. Please note that this patch is for the paid remake version of the game, not the freeware original. Furthermore, this translation will not function for the free version of the game, and any translations of the free version will not work for the paid one.

You can acquire a copy of the game from Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1549420/_/

Some notable differences I've found between the free and paid versions of Menherafflesia include:

  • Improved sprites and CG.
  • Additional main story content, though the overall plot remains the same.
  • Some additional but very short story content in Extras.
  • Voice Acting
    • Matsuri is voiced by Nakahara Mai
    • Mihomi is voiced by Tanaka Aimi
    • Ayume is voiced by Sukoya Kana (Vtuber)
    • Moeko is voiced by Serizawa Yuu
    • Nenene is voiced by Momosuzu Nene (Vtuber)
    • Yukimaru is voiced by Sano Yuuri
    • Misato is voiced by Murasaki Midori

As I cannot legally distribute the executable of the paid version of the game, you will need to do some minor changes to your copy of the game for the translation patch to work. I have provided a copy of the installation guide for what exactly you need to do in the provided patch; it should not take too much of your time, and setting it up to work should only need to be done once.

If a new update to the translation is released, you can apply it by overwriting the data folder with the one I supply.

I've translated all of it, except:

  • I didn't translate the videos - it would be too difficult a task for me.
  • Some of Charon's images are untranslated that use Rasterized Japanese symbols, which I can't read. There aren't too many of these, fortunately - just some of the opening credits.

Install instructions

You can install via tpatch or raw data folder. TPatch is recommended.

For raw data folder:

1. Extract the game resources from the exe. You can use GARbro to do this, or you can use the TyranoScript extractor packaged within the TyranoScript parser of the free version of Translator++. Either way, you should see these folders alongside the game's exe by the end of this step: data, node_modules, theme_kopanda_14, tyrano.

2. Take the data folder I've supplied you and overwrite the extracted data folder.

3. The final step consists of altering the exe to make the game assets unreadable, forcing the game to use the assets you extracted instead. All you need to do is open up the game exe in either HxD, Notepad++, or even a basic text editor, search for "cg.pngPK" without quotes, and insert (not replace) any printable character between the png and PK. The text that was formerly cg.pngPK should now be something like cg.pnggPK when you're done.

For TPatch:

Take the TPatch file and place it next to the game exe (tyranoproject.exe)
